Research in the Archives of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation

The Prussian Secret State Archives and the Zentralarchiv (Central Archive) of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin provide, in this archival database, an insight into their archival holdings.

You will find the descriptions of the archival material and, if available, digital images in the search and in the overview of the archival structure.

Archive Database

The information in the archive database concerns a large number of archival materials, but these are not yet fully recorded. The descriptive data is continuously expanded and updated.

You are logged in as a guest and can carry out research in the released descriptive data. After registration and login, you can save your search results on a watch list, collect archival materials in the basket and order them.

Research

Online research is possible in two ways:

• You carry out research systematically via the Archive (classification structure).
• You Search search for terms, names or words in one or in both archives simultaneously.

Use

If you have found archival materials through research and have logged into the user database, you can use them, depending on the responsibility of the archive, in the reading room of the Prussian Secret State Archives or in the reading room of the Zentralarchiv (Central Archive) in the Archaeological Centre. For the use of the online seat reservation as well as the online ordering of archival materials, you require a separate user account for each archive.
